Kiwanis / Wells Fargo Bank Hockey Festival
Celebrates it’s 14^th Anniversary

 

The 2006 Kiwanis / Wells Fargo Hockey Festival marked its 14^th year of this wonderful combined fund raising and sports tournament event.  The 2006 Hockey Festival winners were:     

• Rochester Century in Class AA Varsity

• Totino - Grace in Class A Varsity

• Fargo South Class AA Junior Varsity

Over $521,000 has been raised and distributed to local youth and community service projects and other Kiwanis sponsored projects in the past 14 years.

 

It is all about the kids and the Rochester Community . . .

Your support is greatly appreciated and needed to continue this important holiday event to benefit the youth and community of Rochester.

Each year the profits from the proceeds of the festival are redistributed back into the Rochester community. On February 22, 2007, Kiwanians Bill Kalmes, Bob Nowicki, John Ernste, and Dave Nelson, President of Wells Fargo, Rochester presented the proceeds from the 2006 Hockey Festival to eighteen organizations.  Over $41,000 was raised from the 2006 Festival bringing the total of funds raised from this tournament to over $5210,000 in its 14 year history. The 2006 Festival funds were distributed (Feb 2007) to the following organizations:

Quarry Hill Nature Center	$6,500	Rochester Family Y	$2,000
Rochester Reading Center	$2,000	Friendship Place	$1,000
Boys and Girls Club	$2,000	Junior Achievement	$2,000
RochesterFest Kids Fest	$1,500	RCTC Summer Camp	$1,000
Adaptive Floor Hockey	$1,000	Senior Citizen’s Center	$1,000
First Tee of Rochester	$1,500	Ability Building Center	$1,000
Child Care Resource Center	$2,000	Graham Arena IV	$3,500
Possabilities	$1,000

       Plus …  $10,000 to the 5 participating Kiwanis Clubs to be used for their community service selected projects and $2,200 already paid to the Post Bulletin’s Children’s Charity.

The needs of various youth and community organizations are reviewed each year for future hockey festival donations. With your help and financial support we should be able to do even more in 2007 / 2008.  

Over 100 Kiwanians and Wells Fargo Bank employees spent well over 1800 hours throughout the year planning and supporting the 2006 event and we expect even more effort to go into our 2007 festival.
